Helpful Hints and Information

Costs: When choosing a cemetery it is important to inquire about all the costs - not just the site (plot) costs. Inquire about the interment fee (opening and closing of the grave) and the liner and liner installation fees and requirements for ordering bronze memorial marker, such as the bronze, granite, installation and care fund.

Memorial Markers: Markers can be ordered from the cemetery pre-need or at-need after Shiva is over. All items required for a burial can be ordered pre need.

A marker purchased from the cemetery can take up to 6 to 8 weeks (depending on what is ordered). Once the marker is received, we call the family to approve it and if there is a balance due it must be paid before we install it. The marker will be installed when the grave is ready in sequential order. A grave is ready for a marker when it has been tamped and the grass has come up.

Scheduling: When a death occurs and a family owns property at the cemetery, the family should call the cemetery before setting a service time. The memorial counselor on duty can give the family the times available for a burial.

Authorization: The family must complete and sign an Interment Authorization form. (required by the state) This form allows us to bury the loved one in the site as shown on the form) If possible we will fax the form to the individual and have them fax it back to us. If the family wishes we can fax the authorization to the funeral home and they can sign it there. This form must be signed before the burial takes place, if the signed form is faxed to the cemetery, the orginal must be brought to the cemetery by the funeral director on the day of the burial.

Burial costs: The costs of the opening and closing of the grave, the liner and liner installation must be paid for before the burial can take place. If the family has not pre-needed these costs, they can charge it by phone or in our offices prior to the day of the burial.

Unveilings: Unveilings must be scheduled with the cemetery after the memorial is installed. Unveilings can only take place before 10:30 A.M. or after 2:30 P.M.

The Kaddish: The Special Kaddish is said only at Grave Site.

Prayer on Unveiling Markers or Monuments...

The body has died; the spirit it housed will never die. On earth our dear ones do live on through those of us to whom they were so very precious.

(The covering is removed)

We now fondly dedicate this memorial marker (monument) to the blessed memory of ________ realizing the his (her) remains lie not only in this site (plot) of ground but in every heart his (life did touch.

O G-d, we are grateful for the years we were privileged to share with him (her) -years when he (she) brought us so many pleasures and taught us so very much by example.

And even thought he (she) has left our midst, we know he (she) will never leave our hearts where his (her) memory will endure as a blessing forever.

Prayers said at an Unveiling...

Psalm 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains;
From whence shall my help come?
My help cometh from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot be moved;
He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, He that keepeth Israel Doth neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper;
The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall keep thee from all evil;
He shall keep thy soul.
The Lord shall guard thy going out and thy coming in,
From this time forth and forever.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
He guideth me in straight paths for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, For Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
Thou hast anointed my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
